Este urâtă de Dumnezeu: Dt 25, 16; Pr 11, 1; 17, 15; 20, 10.
Este oprită prin porunci: Lv 19, 13; 19, 15; 19, 35; Dt 6, 18; 19, 14; Pr 18, 5; 22, 22; 24, 23-24; Rm 13, 7; 1 Tes 4, 6.
Poate fi ştearsă doar de Dumnezeu: Iş 34, 7.
Nu trebuie făcută, în nici un caz:
- sărmanilor: Iş 23, 6; Pr 22, 22-23.
- servitorilor: Dt 24, 14-15; Iov 31, 13-14.
- orfanilor, văduvelor şi străinilor: Iş 22, 21-22; Dt 24, 17; Ir 7, 6; 22, 3; Za 7, 10; Pr 23, 10.
